How do I get a Book button on my clinic's Google listing?

A booking link lets a patient go from your Google listing straight to your online booking page. Here is how it is added and what Google requires.

Before you start

  • Your Business Profile must be verified. Google does not allow links on unverified profiles.
  • You need a page where a patient can actually book. Google requires the link to let the customer complete the action, so a contact form or a general homepage is a poor fit.
  • Not every business type or country is eligible for every link type, so a link may not be offered on your profile.

Two routes

  1. Use a booking provider. If your booking software works with Google's Reserve with Google, you can sign up from your profile: choose Bookings, then Get started, then pick your provider. Google says provider links show on your profile within a week, and the provider may charge you, so check with them first.
  2. Add your own link.
    1. Go to your Business Profile.
    2. On Search, choose Booking. On Maps, choose Edit profile, then Booking.
    3. Choose Add link and paste the full address of your booking page.
    4. Save.

You can add several links, and if you do you can set one as your preferred link.

What Google will not accept

Google's link policy says the link cannot be:

  • A social media page
  • A messaging link
  • An app store link
  • A link shortener

It must also go to a dedicated landing page for your business (for a clinic group, the specific location), and the page must be reachable by Google's crawlers. Links that cannot be checked may be removed. You can have only one link per web domain.

Why you might not see a Book button

  • The profile is not verified yet.
  • The link was rejected for one of the reasons above, or contains spaces, backslashes or a doubled "http://".
  • A provider link already uses the same web domain as yours.
  • Your category or country is not eligible for that link type.
  • It was added recently and has not appeared yet. Google says changes are published once the edit is approved. It does not give a fixed time for custom links, so we will not either.

A caution

A Book button helps patients who are ready to book. It does not promise more appointments, and Google does not give custom links performance data. Make sure the page behind the button works on a phone first.
